In response to the tragic incident in Bengaluru, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken decisive action. The cricket board has introduced stringent guidelines for teams celebrating their IPL victories. This decision follows the unfortunate events during the celebration of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after their IPL 2025 final win, which resulted in the loss of 11 lives due to a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
During a conversation with a media outlet, BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia confirmed that the board is treating this matter with utmost seriousness. They are committed to addressing every risk factor to prevent future incidents. Saikia stated that formal guidelines will now be mandatory for all teams wishing to celebrate publicly after winning the IPL.
In light of the Bengaluru stampede, the BCCI has outlined several guidelines that teams must adhere to before organizing any events or parades following an IPL victory.
